摘要:
晚清东学西传背景下,南曲之首《琵琶记》被匿名译者、来华传教士、汉学家等不同身份的译者分别以诗、小说和戏曲三种形态向西方世界进行了译介,这些不同形态的译本各具特色,是译者不同的社会身份和译介目的使然,为西方读者打开一扇了解中国文学、中国文化之窗,是他们共同译介的目的,这些译本为20世纪《琵琶记》在西方的传播与研究起到了重要的铺垫作用。
Abstract:
Under the background of Oriental literature to the West, The Story of Pipa, as the head of Southern Opera (Nanxi in Chinese), is translated and introduced into the west in three different genres such as poems, novels and dramas by those with different identities like anonymity translators, foreign missionaries and sinologists. These three translated works carry their own distinctive features stemming from the translator’s social identity and different translation purposes. Obviously, sharing a goal to open a window for the western readers to know something of Chinese literature and Chinese culture is the common aim of their translation and introduction, which plays a significant foreshadowing role in the spread and research of The Story of Pipa in the west in the 20th century.
